Why Choose AltruVita SIBO Complex+?
If you have SIBO symptoms you will need to reduce the amount of either hydrogen-producing or methane-producing bacteria in your small intestine. AltruVita’s expert team have formulated this SIBO supplement to reduce symptoms until you are symptom-free.
In a healthy gut, the number of bacteria increases as you move down the intestinal tract into the gut, with low levels in the small intestine, and high levels down in the large intestine. The delicate environment can be disrupted by medication, medical investigations and gastrointestinal disease, which can change pH. Either hydrogen or methane-producing bacteria can then grow out of control in the small intestine causing small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)1,2.
A study in 2014 determined the success rate of SIBO treatment using either the best-known antibiotic ‘rifaximin’ or herbal mixes which included herbs such as Oregano, Berberine, Ginger, Sage, Lemon Balm, Thyme and Stinging Nettle3.
The study concluded that SIBO supplement herbal therapies are at least as effective as rifaximin for resolution of SIBO. Herbs such as Oregano, Berberine, Ginger, Sage, Lemon Balm, Thyme and Stinging Nettle also appear to be as effective on SIBO symptoms as triple antibiotic therapy when rifaximin didn’t work3.
SIBO Symptoms:
- Diarrhoea or Constipation
- Nausea
- Bloating and distension
- Wind/flatulence
- Abdominal cramps
- Weight loss
- Nutrient deficiencies
We recommend that ProfBiotic Complex+ is taken after use of SIBO Complex+.
Our SIBO Complex+ is also approved by the Vegetarian Society and is suitable for people following a vegetarian or vegan diet.

Our nutrition advisor says
"SIBO can really impact someone’s quality of life. Relapse of symptoms after standard treatment is quite high and some patients would rather choose a herbal and natural route from the start or when symptoms return” says nutrition advisor Tara Whyand
